Nagpur: In a bid to set a new Guinness World Record, Chef Vishnu Manohar prepared 3,000 kilograms of Khichdi on a ship in Nagpur on Sunday, ahead of World Food Day on October 16.
Speaking to Sources, Chef Manohar said: “I tried the world record; the emotion behind it is that i want khichdi declared national dish because people eat khichdi every step of the way. It is the healthiest and most affordable meal. “
The ingredients used in making this dish were 275 kg of rice, 125 kg of moong dal (lentils), 150 kg of chana dal (legumes), 3000 liters of water and 150 kg of ghee (clarified butter). The trade union minister of road transport and highways, Nitin Gadkari, honored the event and congratulated Manohar on his attempt.
“He is a renowned chef and I congratulate him on his record. He makes the Indian dish famous all over the world and thanks him for it. He did a great job. The khichdi he made was khichdi masala, and it was very delicious, ”he told reporters here.
