Dubai, United Arab Emirates: In line with the mission of the Dubai Festival for Youth Theater to support creative talent in the emirate and as part of a cooperation between the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) and Akaas Visual Arts, the activities of the 2021 edition of the festival, taking place until November 25, are accompanied by an innovative art exhibition for theatrical photography under the title “After the theatrical performance”.

In line with the sectoral priorities of Dubai Culture’s strategic roadmap to empower talents, citizens and residents, and make culture and art accessible to everyone and everywhere, Dubai Culture has invited Akaas Visual Arts, represented by three young local artists. specialists in photography, to participate and capture the evaluation performances in order to present high-level artistic images that depicted the different interactions on stage as part of an initiative that also aims to enrich the activities of DFYT 2021 and to highlight value the theatrical performances of young people.

Emirati artists Faisal Alrais and Mohamed Al Dhaheri, as well as Iranian artist based in Dubai, Mahsa Namvar, participated in the photography and production of the exhibition, which includes the main images of the pieces participating in the festival. They took artistic photographs of the performances which will be displayed throughout the DFYT.

Artist Jassem Al Awadhi, Founder of Akaas Visual Arts, said, “Theatrical photography reflects and documents the aesthetics of the art of the theater, forming a visual archive of theatrical works. This type of photography involves a blend of the dynamic and emotional harmony of the actors on stage using a long exposure technique which allows to record the movements of the actors on stage.I am happy and proud to collaborate with Dubai Culture because we have a common vision to support the talents and professionals of the emirate to strengthen its position as an incubator for them.

Concept artist and photographer, Faisal Alrais is heavily influenced by the work of American street photographer Vivian Maier. He is often inspired by nature, and through his photography he aims to deconstruct, reconstruct and showcase the beauty of the simplest things in life. Artist Mohamed Al Dhaheri uses photography as a way to express thoughts and feelings and find something interesting in an ordinary place. Artist Mahsa Namvar has developed a sense of curiosity and passion for culture, lifestyle, art, festivities and history due to the diversity of nationalities that live in the country.

Dubai Culture invites all theater and photography enthusiasts to visit the Dubai Festival for Youth Theater and the accompanying “After the Theatrical Performance” exhibition, which runs until November 25 at the Central Theater shopping Mall of the Emirates in Dubai.
