* Mental image of a red pentagram, drawn unto the ground (initial reference to a satanic version of Taylor Swift having been ritually evoked)
* Me confusing words every now and then, speaking up in my apartment (initial reference to as having been commanded by Taylor Swift)
* Image of Taylor Swift having a look on her face, like ‘someone’s getting raped’ (initial reference to me)
* Artificial dream of Nils Diezel reading something I wrote on a tombstone, saying that it’s a good text (initial reference to my X post yesterday, second reference to my X post today, as having driven some Monarch Slaves to trigger internal suicide programming)
* „With you“ (in ‚Taylor Swift‘ voice) - „Wixer“ (German: ‚Wanker‘)
* „She decided against it“ (initial reference to Taylor Swift, to have decided against confusing my written words)
* Threat of me getting raped by Heinrich Arndt in my sleep
* Image pertaining to the Anime ‘Neon Genesis Evangelion’ – Pseudo hallucination of a white feather falling down next to my head, as I stood in front of the mirror (initial reference to a feather as potentially used in a ‘Mother of Darkness’ ritual)
* „I don’t think that she’s the one to blame“ (initial reference to ‚Denise Oppitz‘, second reference to a righteous alter of Taylor Swift‘) - „I don’t think that they’re the one to blame“ (initial reference to me, second reference to righteous alters of Taylor Swift) - „You want them, but I need them“ (initial reference to me, second reference to righteous alters of Taylor Swift) (all of those to ‚Banks - I hate your Ex girlfriend‘ playing in my head, initial reference to Taylor Swift)
* Image of the Anime character ‘Asuka’ from ‘Neon Genesis Evangelion’, flying up and towards me with a smile on her face and her Evangelion in the background
* “I transpose” (https://imgur.com/a/bNNidql) (“it pertains”, initial reference to ‘Mikhaila’ and me having had swapped places in the music video of ‘Daniel Avery & Alessandro Cortini - Illusion of Time’, depicting it to her as her getting tortured, not me) – Mental Image of the album cover of ‘Apparat – The Devil’s Walk’ (initial reference to me)
* My voice occasionally having a robotic undertone
* Artificial dream in which I criticized the Artist ‘Virtual Riot’ for plagiarizing Taylor Swift when he tried himself on a Pop song, biting her chorus in ‘Never Grow Up’, seeing him walking around well-dressed in a hotel, with a rose in his hand. Later on, me walking into such hotel room, with a brown dog looking aggressively in a play-bow, but showing it‘s belly later on, wanting me to pet it (initial reference to me getting sexually assaulted in my sleep)
* „Next (leader of the free world)“ (initial reference to such a person emerging)
* Ass smell (initial reference to Anal Sex, initial reference to Taylor Swift)
* Sounds pertaining to ‘Klein – Listen and see as they take’ mixed into my voice, speaking up in my apartment (initial reference to me getting castrated)
* ‚Tiger Balm‘ smell
* Blue cheese + cheese grate smell (initial reference to torture, initial reference to me)
* “Ruuh” vocalizations as explained previously, in ‘KarissaEats’ voice (muffled, initial reference to her performing fellatio)

YOU ARE (NOT) REPLACEABLE 🪻🤖
This drawing came after watching an Evangelion video with a Mitski song in the background, thanks for watching. Have a great day.
I steal a few breaths from the world for a minute 🌺🌷
And then I'll be nothing forever 🏡☀️

My girlfriend asked me to make her a list of works of fantasy and science fiction so should could feel keyed into references when they come up in conversation. She wanted to feel more grounded in these genres, which she likes, but hasnt made the effort to be on top of everything.
I was happy to compile the most important names, but told her it couldn’t be a short list because recognizing the works of today means honoring their origins, which goes way back into our past.
What’s below is my best effort to include what I assess to be the most culturally relevant becoming, tempering my favorites, and trying to keep it from being totally overwhelming. I’ve left off works from the past five to ten years because it can take a span of time before we're aware the effects new ideas may have. Felt like sharing here in case you or your friends want a crash course on the bedrock of our imagined landscape. I do try to be globally aware, however this list will reflect my bias as a white, straight, male who grew up in the States. And as this is an ongoing conversation between her and myself, I wanted to be able to vouch for the contents.

What I’ve Already Watched
This is a list of anime I’ve watched prior to starting this blog. For shows I watched during it, check out my other, upcoming list!
Spirited Away: My first Miyazaki movie, back when I was a kid. Magical then, magical now. 10/10
Chuunibyou: The warmest, fuzziest feels, coupled with anime’s best metatextual argument for itself. KyoAni’s most underrated masterpiece. 10/10
Attack on Titan: The first“real” anime I ever watched, and it holds up to this day. The crazy action and plot swerves make this a roller coaster I never regret riding.9/10
My Hero Academia: Super-fun superhero show that’s improved with every season. So far, season 3 is upping that bar once again. Now, if only they’d take Mineta out back and put him out of his misery.
-Season 1: 7/10
-Season 2: 8/10
Madoka Magica: Sailor Moon’s edgy goth stepsister in all the best ways. Has my favorite soundtrack in all of anime, and the paper-cutout witch battles are a thing of chaotic beauty. 9/10
Fullmetal Alchemist (2003): Boring filler episodes and a nonsensical ending can’t quite kill this haunting, deliciously dark take on the manga. 8/10
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood: The once and future king of anime adventure tales. 10/10
Neon Genesis Evangelion: 20 years later, and it still holds up. The most realistic characters in all of anime explore depression, isolation, and the nature of humanity while punching giant aliens in the face with giant robots. Oh, and Asuka is my favorite anime character of all time. 10/10
Death Note: A deliciously dark modern fable on punishment and justice, this one earns its spot as one of anime’s most popular properties. 9/10
Toradora: Romantic comedies don’t get better than this. Taiga and Ryuji are the kind of relationship I dream of having one day. 10/10
Steins;Gate: Topsy-Turvy-Timey-Wimey goodness, only slightly let down by an abundance of typical anime bullshit. 8/10
Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Lives up to its name, all right.
-Season 1 (First Blood and Battle Tendency): 8/10 (First Blood is meh, but Joseph Joestar is the fucking best)
-Stardust Crusaders, Season 1: 6/10 (Too much scatological humor for my tastes)
-SC Season 2: 7/10 (As before, aided by darker tone and more intense Stand battles)
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya: Good premise let down by one-note characters and lazy comedy.
-Season 1: 5/10
-Season 2: 2/10 (Endless Eight? Really?)
Gurren Lagann: Enjoyed the ridiculous action, could’ve done without the sexism and too-frequent asspulls. 6/10
One-Punch Man: ONE PUUUUUUUUUUUNCH! 9/10
K-On: Fun but disposable high school hang-out... until the second season turns it into a genuine slice-of-life classic.
-Season 1: 6/10
-Season 2: 9/10
Hunter x Hunter (2011): Absolutely fantastic. This is one brutal, crazy journey, but it’s worth every step. 10/10
Your Lie in April: “Did I reach you?” Yes, Kousei, yes you did. 9/10
Monthly Girl’s Nozaki-Kun: Hilarious sitcom antics that poke fun at classic Shoujo tropes. 8/10
Death Parade: Stylish, slick, and stuffed with creative ideas. Philosophical questions about morality and salvation have never been so engaging. 9/10
Angel Beats: My favorite anime of all time: it makes me feel everything all at once, in all the best ways. Jun Maeda is a god among men. 10/10
Code Geass: Fun in the moment, but it doesn’t take long to realize what a thunderously stupid show it can be. Lelouch is too omnipotent to be believable, and the second season suffers from too much repetition. Thank god that ending is so fucking awesome.
-Season 1: 5/10
-Season 2: 6/10
Violet Evergarden: A beautiful exploration of love in all its shapes and sized, coupled with some of the best animation ever put to TV, makes this one an instant classic. 10/10
Clannad: A fantastic slice-of-life that combines Jun Maeda’s trademark wit with a deeply melancholy production. 9/10
Clannad After Story: Tears. Tears everywhere. 10/10
Kazemakase Tsukikage Ran (Carried by the Wind): An older gem following two badass warrior women and their wandering journey across feudal Japan. Well worth a watch. 8/10
Masamune-Kun’s Revenge: An interesting premise and a handful of clever jokes can keep this rom-com from feeling stale almost instantly. 4/10
Kyoukai no Kanata: The story falls apart by the end, but the character interactions are so fresh and the action so beautiful that it’s hard to care too much. 7/10
Shakugan no Shana: Wastes its potential almost instantly before collapsing into the most nothing show I’ve watched so far. No sense of progression, cardboard characters that come and go at random, and animation that ranged from bland to utterly pedestrian. How this one got so popular, I’ll never know.
-Season 1: 2/10
-Season 2: 4/10
-Season 3: 2/10
Mob Psycho 100: One-Punch Man’s grungier cousin, and all the more memorable for it. 9/10
Overlord: All the generic Isekai tropes you’ve seen elsewhere, further bogged down by a glacial pace and ugly character design.
-Season 1: 3/10
-Season 2: 5/10 (Smartly focuses on the microcosms of the world and the somewhat relatable people living in it as opposed to the boring NPCs)
Fate/Zero: Fantastic urban fantasy, a Greek tragedy for a modern age coupled with awe-inspiring action.
-Season 1: 7/10 (Suffers from the Christopher Nolan syndrome of explaining too damn much too often)
-Season 2: 9/10
Fate/Stay Night UBW: Works both as a proper sequel to Fate/Zero and a solid adaptation of the original VN. Also, the fights have never been prettier. 8/10
Prison School: Good for what it is: a filthy, raunchy, 80-sex-comedy-style pile of enjoyable trash. 5/10
Hibike! Euphonium: KyoAni’s best work, which is saying a lot. Never have the mundanities of everyday life felt so magical, meaningful, and massive.
-Season 1: 10/10
-Season 2: 9/10 (Still salty over them chickening out of Kumiko/Reina. Give us the lesbians, dammit!)
The Monogatari Series: So many ups and downs, but the crazy art-deco style, densely layered dialogue and magical romance make this an investment well worth making.
-Bake: 8/10
-Nise : 6/10
-Neko: 6/10
-SS: 9/10
-Hana: 8/10
-Tsuki: 5/10
-Owari: 8/10
-Owari SS: 9/10
Cowboy Bebop: In a weird sense, almost too perfect to really hook me like it did everyone else. Still a classic, but one I more respect than actually enjoy. 7/10
The Ancient Magus Bride: An enchanting slow-burn fantasy tale that unfortunately loses its way by the end. 7/10
A Place Further Than the Universe: This is the most KyoAni show not done by KyoAni I’ve ever seen, and I mean that as the highest possible compliment. Good vibes, earned catharsis, and a truly inspirational spirit. 9/10
Land of the Lustrous: Breathtaking CG action and dark, uncomfortable themes make this a real standout of recent years. 8/10
ReLIFE: Feels superfluous at times, but an interesting and well-executed high school dramedy with a unique main character. 7/10
Noragami: Fun and breezy action romp, though it can never quite shake the feeling of being a product more than a story.
-Season 1: 6/10
-Season 2: 7/10
Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu: Season 1 is an engaging period drama, Season 2 is an enthralling sequel that dabbles in the surreal and abstract power of storytelling. A modern classic.
-Season 1: 8/10
-Season 2: 9/10
Kill la Kill: I should really hate this one, what with its dumb fanservice and confused ideas on gender, but damn it, the staggeringly brilliant animation and just-crazy-enough-to-work story make Trigger’s first big project a real winner. 9/10
Yuru Camp: Pleasant, laid-back camping with likeable characters. Nothing substantial, but enjoyable. Also, the Jackson 5-inspired OP song is killer. 7/10
Kiki’s Delivery Service: Speaking of pleasant vibes, Miyazaki’s tale of a young witch moving to the big city is utterly charming. 8/10

My Top 10 Favourite Anime (And Why You Should Watch Them)
This is normally something I would put on my main blog, but I wanted to celebrate a follower milestone and also I know this will reach a significantly wider audience on this blog.
Consider this both a list of recommendations and a *get to know me* thing, I guess.
Honourable Mentions:
Bakemonogatari: A really stylized show about a semi vampire helping people with their supernatural afflictions born from emotional issues. The subsequent seasons get a little questionable, but this is definitely a standalone story with great dialogue and visuals. (15 eps)
Shiki: Creepy story about a small town infested with vampires. Really brutal and sick, but it has fascinating themes. The pacing is a bit slow and it has a kind of bad scene towards the end, but the show is 100% worth it. (24 eps)
Cardcaptor Sakura: Because this is mostly aimed at younger viewers, I would only really recommend this show for either magical girl fans, or people who watched the extremely altered dub as a kid. That being said, its a cute, fun show about magic with a likeable cast and surprisingly creative and original ideas, especially towards the latter half. (70 eps)
Jojos Bizarre Adventure 4: Diamond is Unbreakable: Full disclosure, I have not seen the first 3 jojo series, but its not necessary to enjoy this show. This is a super creative and really fun series about superpowered badasses in a strange city fighting each other and trying to solve a murder mystery in the background. Weird, but in the best way. (39 eps)
Kuroshitsuji: Book of Circus: This should be higher on the list, but in truth I would recommend the manga way over the show. But, if you want to watch a supernatural horror/comedy without reading a 138+ chapter manga, OR you were a fan of the original Black Butler seasons and want to see something way better, give this a watch. (10 eps)
*drumroll*
10. Trigun
So Trigun takes place is this old west, yet mysterious science fiction-y world where, through a bunch of complicated scenarios, a pacifist is the most wanted criminal known to man. Due to his status as a“natural disaster,” two insurance workers are tasked with reining him in to save their business. It’s an incredibly charming series, and the protagonist is really likeable. It’s extremely creative, funny, and emotional near the end. I do have some problems with the ending because it almost seems like the final conflict just...solves itself, but that’s a nitpick. The first episode is basically a short film, so give that a watch and see how you feel. (26 eps)
9. Paranoia Agent
This was directed by the late and great Satoshi Kon and has his usual themes about the blurring between fiction, dreams, and reality. It’s about a string of mysterious assaults committed by a kid with a baseball bat, and how these assaults seem to solve the problems of the victims. It’s very arthouse and has a twist that makes me ball my eyes out even though it’s not sad it’s just...odd and overwhelming. It drags a bit near the middle, but if you like kind of surreal stuff that’s also just really good, you have to watch this show. (13 eps)
8. Baby Steps
The amazing thing about this show is that its premise is specifically designed to make me hate it. It’s about a nerdy teenager who starts to play a sport for the sole sake of getting fit and having a more well rounded life style, and also he has a crush on this really popular girl. That sounds fucking awful, but the main character is actually really likeable (he reminds me a lot of Deku from BNHA) and I swear to fucking god every time I thought this show was going to do something awful and cliched with its romantic comedy plot, it doesn’t. The beauty and the geek trope is still there, but all of the bullshit that comes with it is omitted in a way I feel was kind of self-aware. The sports aspect is really good too: it’s well paced and there’s lots of tension even though the show as a whole is really upbeat and pleasant. I had a blast watching it, and if you can make it past the fact that is has god awful animation, give it a watch.
7. Higurashi: When They Cry
Yet another great show with absolute garbage animation. Anyways, this show is about a group of teenagers in a small town who are unknowingly trapped in a time loop. In each loop there’s a bunch of new mysteries, as well as some extremely brutal murders and tortures experienced my the main cast. I’ve seen a number of Western shows (Orphan Black, BBC Sherlock, Lost, Supernatural, etc.) fall apart because the writers want a really clever and intricate mystery to play out, but they don’t want to actually put the time into crafting one, so it’s just a bunch of cliffhangers with no answers or pay off. THIS SHOW SUCCEEDS AT WHAT ALL OF THOSE OTHER SHOWS FAIL AT. While not all of the answers are great (the second season isn’t as good) the original author somehow made the world’s most ludicrously complicated mystery story work, with a lot of it relying on the audience to put all of the pieces together even when the characters can’t. Its very clever in doing that: it makes its audience feel smart. It also has themes that don’t really show up in other horror stories, even though they’re incredibly relevant to fear and violence. Great show, go watch it. (50 eps)
6. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood
Everyone knows about this show, everyone says it’s great, and everyone’s right. If you’ve been living under a rock for ten years: the show is about two brothers who break an alchemy taboo, which destroys their bodies, They’re on the hunt for something to restore them to normal and along the way they meet like 8990354578579 characters with interesting stories. It’s tightly written and really gripping. It’s fun, but also really dramatic and emotional when it needs to be. My only problems with it are that the ending is reaaaallllly convoluted, and there’s a minor plot point earlier on that gets weirdly dropped, but everyone kinda forgets about those things because the show’s so good. Also the brotherly bond makes me cry. (64 eps)
5. FLCL
I honestly don’t even know where to start with this show because it has the unique property of being the only show I have ever seen that I have literally no problems with. Not even nitpicks. There is nothing wrong with this show; it’s perfect. The only reason it’s not number 1 is because some other shows have more ideas or more fleshed out characters. So this arthouse spastic comedy is about a boy who is disappointed with all of the adults in his life, then some chick hits him in the face with a guitar and giant robots from a secret facility start coming out of his head. It’s fucking wild and has like 30 different aesthetics and I love all of them. It’s the best looking show I’ve ever seen and one of the best directed. It feels like someone read a really weird poem and turned it into a 6 episode show. It’s funny, it’s emotional, it’s cartoony, it’s beautiful, it’s raunchy, it’s poetic, it’s silly, it’s creative, and it’s got strong themes. The wtf visuals, the nonsensical plot, and the amazing soundtrack make an aesthetic experience more than anything. (6 eps)
4. Princess Tutu
I already made a post about this show and why it’s good, which you can check out here, but the gist is it’s a meta fairytale about a duck that turns into a girl to help a storybook prince find his emotions. I used to love stories that were“twists on fairytales” or whatever, but after watching this show I realized that the genre is pretty derivative. This show is so amazing it honestly made me reevaluate an entire genre and come to the conclusion that this is the only member of that genre worth watching. It’s truly creative and well crafted with fantastic characters. (26 eps)
3. Hunter x Hunter (2011)
This show is basically a bunch of creative ideas, unique set pieces, and interesting characters stacked on top of each other in a trench coat disguised as a narrative. It’s about a perky shonen protagonist and a child assassin becoming friends while also trying to become hunters (a position involving vast wealth and adventure). It’s in a modern fantasy setting so literally anything can happen. In one arc they have to play life-or-death dodgeball against robots, and another is an insanely epic tale about the intense evil that people are capable of (feat. a 25 episode climax). I can’t even talk about all of the themes or ideas because there are just too many. Because of it’s wild, sprawling story, it has a lot of ass pulls and retcons, but in the grand scheme of things they don’t really matter. It’s long, but super easy to watch in huge chunks. (148 eps)
2. Neon Genesis Evangelion and The End of Evangelion
The most efficient way to describe this show is to say that it’s the most interesting show ever made. It’s about an apocalyptic future in which emotionally disturbed teenagers must pilot giant bio-machines to fight monsters which are referred to as angels. It’s got deep characters, a creative story, and is probably the most well directed show I’ve ever seen. The ending infamously fell apart due to production problems, so there’s a movie called The End of Evangelion to conclude the story. It’s a very disturbing arthouse movie, so watch out for that, but the show as a whole is moooosssstly more straightforward and fascinating, This is an absolute must watch. (26 eps and 1 movie)
1. Baccano!
Baccano! takes place in 1930s New York, and is about thieves, gangsters, criminals, terrorists, alchemists, and immortals interacting in this nonlinear comedy/action thrill ride. I felt like I was on a rollercoaster while watching this show. It’s the perfect blend of action, comedy, romance, drama, horror, and creative storytelling. It’s fantastic to rewatch since the first episodes barely make any sense without context (but are still an absolute joy to watch). It’s got great characters and it’s a great story. Go watch it. And then watch it again. (13 eps and 3 OVAs)
That’s it for this list! Check out my MAL page for more recommendations if you’re interested and have a great night!

"Dreams for [the] children of the world."
55 years ago today, something happened. Three brothers founded a little production company that would quickly and time and time again change and shape the anime world and industry as we know it.
Those brothers were Yoshida Tatsuo, Kenji, and Toyoharu. And that little production company was Tatsunoko.
Despite meager and humble beginnings as youngsters in war-torn Japan, Tatsuo and his brothers found success as manga illustrators, gaining inspiration from golden age American comic books (something that would inspire not only Tatsuo's own Superman manga but the three's design cues and energetic and heroic take on their stories and characters for decades to come). This success soon turned to passion, and the three brothers went into business for themselves, to make and publish their own heroic stories.
Thus, on October 19th, 1962, Tatsunoko Pro. was officially founded, and not two years later its first manga was published: SPACE ACE. Tatsunoko (a play on "Tatsu no ko" ["Tatsu's child" (Tatsuo saw each manga and anime he and his brothers published as his own children)] and "sea dragon" [hence their terrifying sea horse logo]) would go on to make nigh 100 titles throughout their past 55 years and spawn some of anime's greatest, most important, and revolutionary milestones (more than once!)
Of those revolutionary milestones, one not to be overlooked is the paltry achievement of, well... literally making anime in American a thing. When Mach GoGoGo reached our shores as Speed Racer, it was unlike anything anyone had ever seen and quickly became a phenomenon with children and execs alike. It proved that America was a viable market for anime, and its success paved the way for every subsequent import and release.
"There was the family relationship. You knew about Speed's family, you knew them well. They were all involved in each race. And we all play with cars as little kids; we love cars. The Mach 5 was a hot car, and there were all sorts of cars throughout all episodes. I still think the Mach 5 is ahead of its time." - Peter Fernandez
And although you can only prove anime has a home in America once, that didn't stop Tatsunoko from saving anime no less than three more times in the following decades (or, in the least, defining an entire new generation of fans). Every subsequent decade had a major, shaking hit from Tatsunoko: the 70s saw Battle of the Planets; the 80s saw Robotech (which quite fully literally saved anime when it aired); and the 90s saw Evangelion. Even if you've never seen these titles, their impact is evident on you and history, whether you realize it or not.
Tatsunoko also saw forth the first ever credited examples of the positions of Mechanical Designer and Character Designer with Okawara Kunio and Amano Yoshitaka, respectively. They both got their industry starts at Tatsunoko (Amano at FIFTEEN) and through their work helped shape anime as we know it today. Without these indivuduals at this company, who knows how the anime industry would be different today (and Okawara might still be painting mall window displays)!
And if you like MegaMan and Super Sentai, then you, too, have Tatsunoko to thank. Inafune Keiji shares that he watched Casshan as a boy, and that he based Rush off of Friender, Casshan's robotic dog who, too, changes shape and transforms. Inafune even admits he lifted the plot from Casshan for MegaMan X!
Gatchaman, in turn, also solidified and popularized the concept of the 5-man fighting team, leading to Himitsu Sentai Gorenger three years later (in fact, Choujin Sentai Jetman is a direct homage to Gatchaman).
Besides Yoshitaka and Okawara, many other creators and studios owe their start, existence, and inspiration to Tatsunoko:
Yoshiyuki Tomino
Mamori Oshii
Yuji Nunokawa
Mitsuhisa Ishikawa
Yasunori Honda
Hisayuki Toriumi
Koji Nanke
Akemi Takada
Mitsuki Nakamura
Torao Arai
Mikiya Mochizuki
Mamoru Uchiyama
Ashi Productions/Production Reed
Pierrot
J.C. Staff
Production IG
We, too, as American anime fans owe basically our existence to them. If not for Speed Racer, there's a grand possibility not many of us would be loving what we do (much less participating in such a huge world market and expansive community); it all started here at one point, and although Speed Racer wasn’t the first, the first licensed, nor even the first serialized anime, it still did what Astro Boy, Gigantor, and Marine Boy couldn’t.
And, on top of everything else, their anime is goofy and colorful and violent and just hella fun to watch, soooo...
But, all in all, on this 55th anniversary of Tatsunoko, just take a moment to appreciate what they've done and maybe even check a title out or two.
Rest in Peace, Tatsuo, Kenji God Bless Toyoharu And may Tatsunoko continue on

Manga the Week of 3/11/20
SEAN: A sizable, but not overpowering, list this week.
A sole offering from J-Novel Club: The 2nd volume of the manga for The Unwanted Undead Adventurer.
Kodansha’s print debut is Knight of the Ice (Ginban Kishi), a josei series from Kiss about a writer whose childhood friend is not only a famous figure skater, but also a hopeless nerd dependent on her. It looks quite fun. The author has another josei series, Kiss & Never Cry, that has long been on my “when I can pay a publisher large amounts of money to license something just for me” list. This is actually a side story connected to that, but stands on its own.
MICHELLE: I am very excited for this! This is also the mangaka of Tramps Like Us/Kimi wa Pet.
ANNA: Me too, I’ve had this preordered as soon as I knew about it, happy for more Ogawa.
ASH: Same! Tramps Like Us was terrific, so I’ve really been looking forward to this series.
MELINDA: This sounds so good! Here for it.
SEAN: Also out in print is Noragami: Stray God 21 and The Quintessential Quintuplets 8.
ASH: Oh, it’s been a while since the last Noragami volume.
SEAN: Digitally we get My Roomie Is a Dino (Gyaru and Dinosaur), a Young Magazine series whose Japanese title probably sums it up better than the English.
And there is Cells at Work and Friends 2, The Dorm of Love and Secrets 2, Farewell My Dear Cramer 8, Giant Killing 19, and Tokyo Revengers 14.
Seven Seas makes up for last week’s absence with a bunch of things. Including several debuts, starting with GIGANT, from the creator of Gantz. It seems to be about a porn star who can grow to the size of a giant, and therefore has a very strong, if very specific, appeal to fans of that nature. It runs in Big Comic Superior.
The early digital light novel debut is The Invincible Shovel (Scoop Musou), about a man, his shovel, and a quest to save the kingdom. I’ve heard this is very funny.
The King of Fighters: A New Beginning has Terry Bogard, Mai Shiranui and King giving up on fighting and starting a dance academy… OK, no, it’s a fighting manga.
ASH: Now I really want to read about a martial dance academy…
MELINDA: Same.
SEAN: My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s is a new manga based on an (unlicensed) light novel, and is basically Arifureta smooshed together with The Magic in This Other World Is Too Far Behind!. It runs in Overlap’s Comic Gardo.
Also from Seven Seas is Arifureta: I Heart Isekai 2, Gal Gohan 2, I Had the Same Dream Again digitally (yes, I already talked about it, they moved it), Neon Genesis Evangelion ANIMA 2 (in print), the 2nd PENGUINDRUM manga, and the 5th volume, digitally, of Reincarnated As a Sword.
Square Enix has a debut, and BL fans should be happy. Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! (30-sai Made Doutei da to Mahou Tsukai ni Nareru Rashii) is about a man who can read people’s minds by touching them… only to find that his colleague has a huge crush on him! It’s a Gangan Pixiv title.
MICHELLE: That title tho…
ASH: It is quite a title, isn’t it?
MELINDA: This vaguely reminds me of a series I worked on way back during my DMG experiment, Your Gentle Hand, but more fun?
SEAN: SuBLime also has a debut, Caste Heaven, a dark psychological BL story. Looks a bit too dark for the MB crowd, but who knows? It runs in Magazine Be x Boy, a sentence I don’t think I’ve typed out since I was doing these lists on Livejournal.
MICHELLE: I actually appreciate psychological BL sometimes, so I intend to check this out.
ASH: I probably will, too, at some point.
MELINDA: I’ll tread cautiously, but maybe?
SEAN: Vertical has The Golden Sheep 3.
MICHELLE: This is the final volume.
ANNA: I need to read the whole thing.
SEAN: Viz has (last I checked) Transformers: The Manga, for all fans of 80s robot shows.
And also Radiant 10, Record of Grancest War 6, and RIN-NE 32.
And two titles from Yen. On the light novel side we’ve got Magical Girl Raising Project 8, still building up magical girls and knocking them down.
And last, but certainly not least, it’s an 11th volume of Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun!
MICHELLE: Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
ASH: Yes!!! Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun is the best!!!
MELINDA: Nice to see this still going.
SEAN: A lot of debuts this week. Any of them interest you?

These are the official Shonen Jump Bleach digital colorings, so credit goes to them. Shoutout to IZN1337 and LucasART (il318) as they are typesetting and translating the colored manga of the final arc into English here: http://bato.to/comic/_/comics/bleach-... I'd also like to thank LucasART for redrawing many pages, this video wouldn't of been possible without him: https://twitter.com/IL318ART Shoutout to Tam Selleck who shared the official colored manga with me, this video also wouldn't of been possible if Tam wasn't generous enough to share it, so thanks! All in all this video took quite a while to make, especially as I had to typeset which was pretty time consuming. Robot Dreams x Evangelion p.2
Trial and spectre of the duel. 🪻🥀🪼
The song that I read and share at the end of Redbuild 2 always makes me very sentimental.
いま わたしの ねがいごとが 🌼
かなう ならば つばさが ほしい 🪼
この せなかに とりの ように 🪻
しろい つばさ つけて ください 🍓
