Tom Hutson has completed his new book “Sermons for a God-Centered Life”: a gripping and powerful collection of sermons that are both in depth for those advanced in their spiritual journey and easy to understand for those just beginning on the path. of the discovery of Jesus. Knowing the author’s story allowed him to explain the context of the events that took place and to offer a deeper meaning than one might realize by reading the scriptures.

Tom Hutson, who sadly passed away in 2018, felt his whole life prepared him for ministry – from his beginnings as a ranger with the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency to being a professor of biology, a football coach and finally, a director of school with Metro Nashville Public Schools, then to his final destination as associate director of the Master of Arts in Education at Cumberland University and pastor at Saundersville United Methodist Church.

Throughout his life and career, Dr Hutson has been a natural teacher with a way of imparting knowledge that has enabled the learner to understand even complex issues and made him thirst for more. This, along with his generosity, empathy, compassion, patience, humor, and devotion to Jesus, gave him the basis for writing the inspiring sermons contained in this book.

Author Tom Hutson writes: “Without realizing it, we let our loved ones become mere distributors of information, transportation, hugs, money or services. It often takes a storm to restore our values. In the pursuit of our selfish interests, the “ship”, whatever it is – the project, the schedule, the deadline, the organization, the budget, whatever – can be lost on the rocks. Yes, it will be expensive, but it’s okay. It is our people that we cannot afford to lose. If the storm sends us back to them, we have everything we really need. We can always find another “ship”.

Published by Page Publishing, Tom Hutson’s fascinating work reflects his love for life and for all people, his interest in everything, giving the kind, humor, compassion, wisdom and common sense, which made him a particularly caring and efficient pastor. His congregation appreciated his wise guidance, his concern for any problems they faced, and his gentle guidance for their spiritual growth. His sermons brought them closer to Jesus, gave them guidance and strength, and taught them how to be humble servants and how to spread the love of Jesus to all.
