UTICA – Recognizing structural racism as a driving force behind health inequalities and a barrier to its goal of health equity, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield invites nonprofits to apply for health equity awards of up to $ 30,000 each to help fund health and wellness programs that address racial issues and ethnic health disparities in upstate New York.
The application period is open with a deadline of midnight, Friday September 17th.

501 (c) (3) non-profit organizations in the Excellus BlueCross BlueShield service territory are invited to apply for the Health Equity Awards. Proposals must include clear and defined goals to reduce health disparities and improve health equity in communities of color, particularly within Black and Latino communities, where historical and current racism and discrimination continue. lead to a greater burden of health inequalities and social disadvantage. Organizations will be required to specify how the funding will measurably contribute to improving racial and ethnic equity health outcomes. Categories of health equity include, but are not limited to:
Improve the physical and mental health of the community. Reduce social disparities in health care. Ensure access to health care.
