Opening Friday, October 15 at the Gustavus Adolphus College Schaefer Art Gallery Art Exhibit is “The Student Creative Suite ’22.“This exhibition will be on view until November 10, 2022.

Held for the second consecutive year, this exhibition features the work of Junior Studio Art Major Summer Fellowship recipients Taite Stevens Aldrich and Oleander Meierhoff, both currently seniors. Along with this, it features the recipients of the Faculty-Student Collaboration Fellowship, Professor Priscilla Briggs and Cora Hentges.

This exhibition will also feature work from the First Term Seminar Course (FTS) of Professor Betsy Byers good art bad artin which students examine art that has previously been rejected by society.​​

Nicolas Darcourt, Teacher and Head of Studio and Visual Arts Programs to Gustavus, when asked about this exhibition, said “this exhibition showcases the work and creativity of the students”, emphasizing that this is the exhibition of the students. Although professors are there to supervise and develop the logistics, this exhibition is carried by the efforts of the students.

A variety of different mediums will be portrayed, showcasing the strengths of different students, with Darcourt saying “a visitor would see paintings, three-dimensional work, photography, as well as a zine, it would be art majors juniors (now seniors) The FTS class has a total gambit of work I can’t wait to be there This exhibit is an accumulation of work with students experimenting with different mediums to appeal to all.

“The Student Creative Suite ’22” is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Meanwhile, the exhibition is holding a public reception on October 15 from 12 p.m. Arts Festival! Activate your imagination, which is another push from the art department to engage the audience more.
