May 26, 2011 – Local potter Tom Daly spent eight weeks teaching Boys and Girls Club members in the Bemidji area how to make pottery. Participants learned to roll, shape, and hand-craft pieces of clay using a variety of tools and methods. Each member was also able to varnish their own work of art. The activity was funded by a grant from the Region 2 Arts Council.

May 26, 1996 – With the dams wide open, high water levels begin to decline on the upper Mississippi chain of lakes. But, bogs and saturated soils after a wet fall and heavier-than-normal moisture content from the melting snow created a situation where heavy rain in the Headwaters area could lead to flooding.

May 26, 1971 – Beware of hairless men! The Bemidji Jaycees are cracking down on the clean-razed town, and jail terms and heavy fines are reserved for those who violate the town’s shaving ban. A special city ordinance passed to secure community cooperation for the celebration of Bemidji’s Diamond Jubilee states that shaving is prohibited by city men until July 5.

May 26, 1921 – Over 50 men and women will help make the Northern Minnesota Fair a success. The crews are already at work, under the direction of AP Ritchie, demolishing the old plank fences and cleaning up the newly purchased land. At the east end, from Beltrami Avenue to Bemidji Avenue, there will be a car parking space with all trees in that space removed.
