The days are getting shorter and the nights are getting longer – now is the perfect time to take advantage of the plethora of artistic and seasonal events happening right here in the beautiful city. This year’s fall guide covers artistic, seasonal, and Halloween events through November 16, when our holiday guide seems to pick up on local entertainment.

While this time of year is usually associated with the end of the year and the leaves falling from the trees, our local art scene is flourishing brilliantly right now. Drama, dance, classical music, opera and visual arts groups across the city are producing a host of new works and providing a fall taste of creativity not to be missed.

Although you will get dehydrated if you try to wear a flannel and thoughtfully sip mulled apple cider or mulled wine, there are plenty of fall-themed events to get you in the spirit of the season that don’t exist. Don’t require sticking your head to a Starbucks’ pumpkin and spice jar. (But if this is your jam, go for it. We have nothing against nutmeg).

And speaking of jerks, it will be Halloween before you know it and if ghosts and scares draw you in, you’re in the thick of it here in Skunk Monkey Land. Local theme parks go all out with Halloween Horror Nights and Howl-O-Scream; driving haunts have made a welcome comeback, and there are plenty of local scares to get the adrenaline pumping.

As we move from summer to summer less, there is plenty to do and see, so enjoy it with full awareness. (It’s still a pandemic, after all.
