The HCCC clears the debt of 4,800 students
Hudson County Community College (HCCC) wiped out $ 4,861.88 in overdue financial balances for about 4,800 students. The canceled debt covers all outstanding balances for the spring, summer and fall 2020 semesters, as well as spring 2021, when the pandemic imposed challenges that disproportionately impacted students and residents. of Hudson County and the New York Metropolis.
HCCC president Dr Chris Reber said the college had not used a cumulative grade point average or other criteria to determine which outstanding balances should be written off. “COVID-19 has had a physical, emotional and economic impact on our students and our community, and eradicating the unpaid financial balances of all students was just the right thing to do,” he said.
The College used funds provided through the Higher Education Relief Fund of the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplementary Appropriations Act (CRRSAA), also known as the CARES Act. The U.S. Department of Education allows colleges and universities to use this funding for any component of student attendance or for emergency costs related to the pandemic, including tuition, food, shelter, health care and childcare.
Reber said the college has distributed nearly $ 8 million in CARES Act funding to more than 5,200 individual students to date, with additional funding and support for upcoming students.

Art House Productions appoints new leadership of its board of directors
Art House Productions has announced a transition of the leadership of its board of directors. David Gibson, former chairman of the board, resigned on June 13, after ten years on the board and seven years as chairman. The Board of Directors unanimously appointed Robinson Holloway to succeed Gibson.
Holloway began his career in sports journalism. Thanks to a nice sum of money won on “Jeopardy! At the age of 22, she successfully transitioned from graduate school in medieval history to a career spanning the PGA Tour. She started in print for The Independent and other UK newspapers, as well as Sports Illustrated, then moved on to television, working for ABC Sports, ESPN and the Golf Channel.
She made the transition to a career in the arts after founding and running two non-profit art galleries, including the Village West Gallery in Jersey City. She also sits on the board of directors of the London-based Association of Art Merchants, and is a member of ArtTable and the International Women’s Forum. She was the founding chair of the Jersey City Arts Council board and created Art Fair 14C while at JCAC, leaving her post at the Arts Council in 2018 to lead Art Fair 14C as a volunteer executive director. She is currently vice president of communications for the Village Neighborhood Association in Jersey City.

Passport office obtains certificate of completion
On July 1, the National Passport Center of the United States Department of State congratulated and said “thank you” to the Passport Division of the Hudson County Clerk’s Office for their dedication and participation in the officers program. acceptance of passports. Second annual golf outing to support the Kool Kids Foundation
Robert Kool Bell, founder of Grammy Award-winning Kool & the Gang, hosted the Kool Kids Foundation’s second annual golf tournament. The event took place on Tuesday, July 13 at Cedar Hill Golf & Country Club, located at 100 Walnut Street in Livingston.
