TROY, NY – WMHT Public Media (PBS-Public Broadcasting Service) recently welcomed new Director of Community Engagement and Education, Mara Drogan, Ph.D., whose experience includes four years as Registrar of Troy City and several positions in academia.

More recently, beyond Drogan’s work managing the city clerk’s office, she has worked as a visiting assistant professor in the history department at Siena College and as an adjunct professor/lecturer at educational institutions like the Johns Hopkins University, Saint Rose College and the University of Albany. , where she obtained her doctorate with distinction in international, comparative and global history.

Her knowledge of various aspects of the education system will be useful in Drogan’s new position in which, among other goals and duties, she will lead the creation of educational content that will serve educators, learners and families, including using the PBS LearningMedia resource. .

“This role brings together all my experience in education, administration, public service and project management,” Drogan said in a press release. “I am delighted to have the chance to bring all my skills and experience to such a great organization.”

A resident of Troy, Drogan holds a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York, an MFA in Women’s Studies from the CUNY Graduate Center, and a Ph.D. from the University of Albany which included a thesis entitled “Atoms for Peace: US Foreign Policy, and the Globalization of Nuclear Technology, 1953-1960”.
